Background (founded / HQ / style) source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkshire_Hathaway — Corporate origin is the 1839 Valley Falls Company textile mill founded by Oliver Chace; the modern Berkshire Hathaway was formed in the 1955 merger of Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates and Hathaway Manufacturing. Warren Buffett took control in 1965 and converted it into an insurance-led conglomerate and investment vehicle. Greg Abel succeeded Buffett as CEO at the beginning of 2026; Buffett remains chairman emeritus and Howard G. Buffett is chairman. For an investment-management framing, 1965 (Buffett takeover) is as relevant as the 1839 origin.
