GetCoattail Research — The Filing Tape #179. monday.com through six filing lenses, as of the latest filings. Past patterns are not a promise of future results. For education only — not investment advice.
The Hype
monday.com is one of the most searched-for stocks on Zacks.com lately, according to Zacks' October 23, 2026 note — and the search interest comes with a sharp up month, not a rally from a low. Over the past month, monday.com shares returned +24.3%, against −1.2% for the Zacks S&P 500 composite and −5.8% for the Zacks Internet–Software industry (Zacks, October 23, 2026). The same note carries a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), a current-quarter consensus earnings estimate of $1.43 per share (+23.3% from a year ago, raised 3.4% over the last 30 days), and a record of beating consensus earnings and revenue estimates in each of the trailing four quarters — last reported quarter revenue was $364.62 million (+21.9% year over year) with EPS of $1.48 against $1.09 a year ago. Zacks' Value Style Score is D, indicating the stock trades at a premium to its peers.
The price tape behind that note is a round trip with a fast October leg. monday.com closed 2026's first trading day at $143.42, fell to $69.11 by March 31, then rose 4.7% in Q2 to $72.39 and 8.4% in Q3 to $78.46. The latest close in our daily price file is $84.01 on October 6, 2026, and the daily refresh puts the October 23 close at $106.53 — a cross-source comparison, since the price file ends October 6, but on those two sources the stock is +35.8% since September 30 and −25.7% year to date, still 49.4% below the $210.49 52-week-high field. The question the filings let us ask: during the quarter the tracked register more than doubled, did the wider market follow — or did it walk the other way?

Chart: MNDY through six filing lenses — who is actually there?
Superinvestors. The June-quarter register shows 2 of the 147 tracked managers holding monday.com ordinary shares — 1,663,335 shares, $120.4M at reported values, about 5.17% of all institutionally reported MNDY shares. The register's shape is concentration, not breadth: Disciplined Growth Investors holds 1,263,335 shares — 76.0% of the cohort — after more than tripling its position from 403,888 shares in Q1 (+212.8%, portfolio weight 1.55%). The other holder, Greg Alexander's Conifer Management, stood still at 400,000 shares (24.0% of the cohort, portfolio weight 4.77%). Both change labels recompute exactly from paired register rows, and there were no new holders and no exits: both June holders held the stock in Q1, and no other first-quarter register filing holds it. The June cohort's implied price of $72.39 matches the June 30 close exactly, so the share arithmetic is clean, and the same exact match holds for Q1 ($69.11 = March 31 close for both holders). No September early filer holds monday.com, so the June picture is not yet updated by an early Q3 filing. One pairing note for readers cross-checking: Conifer's register accessions use a different CIK prefix than its managers-file CIK, but the pairing is conclusive on totals and cusip list, not on prefix alone.
All institutions. The full 13F market moved the other way from the tracked pair. Filers fell by 23 to 275, and reported shares fell 12.03% (−4,402,344 shares to 32,192,616). Reported value fell 5.29% to $2.54B — a smaller drop than the share count because the quarter's price rise cushioned it, and the value figure here includes option rows, so it is not a pure common-stock market value (the full-market implied price of $78.79 sits 8.8% above the June 30 close for exactly that reason, and the same gap appears in Q1). The churn underneath was heavy — 266 filers entered and 289 exited — but the net was a shrinking register. The tracked cohort's doubling happened inside a shrinking institutional base, not alongside a broadening one: two managers added while the market, on net, sold.
Insiders. The Form 4 tape is thin, and its thinness is the finding. The parsed corpus for monday.com's CIK contains only 6 filings, all from June through September 2026 — so every "all-record" figure below is a within-corpus figure, not a since-IPO claim, and this article does not say no insider has ever bought the stock. Within that corpus there are zero open-market purchases in every window — 90 days, one year, and all parsed — against 4 sell transactions in the last 90 days covering 3,476 shares and $339,146.37, at an average $97.57, inside the window's $71.74–$101.14 price range. The full parsed record holds 7 sells totalling $723,439.80 from 2 sellers: George James Case (chief revenue officer, officer flag) sold 5,860 shares for $522,114.75 across 5 transactions, and Eyal Aviad sold 2,000 shares for $201,325.05 across 2 transactions. The parsed-file scan matches the aggregate buckets on every transaction count and value, and the site's live insider aggregate agrees with the 90-day figures exactly, so the zero-buy result is a parsed result, not a coverage gap — but it is a six-filing result, and it must be read as one. The dollar scale is the contrast with the rest of the tape: insider selling here is measured in hundreds of thousands, not the tens or hundreds of millions seen in other Filing Tape issues.
Congress. Nothing to report, and the nothing is checked rather than assumed. monday.com has no row in any of the four congressional files within their stated windows — no House purchase or sale in 2026 PTR filings for transactions on or after April 1, 2026, and no Senate row — as of October 3, 2026 (Senate file as of October 1). That is a zero-activity-in-window finding, not a claim that no member ever traded the stock outside those windows.
13D/G. The control register is passive-only: 10 filings, all Schedule 13G, no activist 13D. The notable mover is new: The Goldman Sachs Group opened an initial 13G stake of 3,395,845.08 shares, 6.6% (event June 30, 2026, filed August 10, 2026 — the latest filing). The notable exit is nearly total: WCM Investment Management fell from 3,761,924 shares (7.29741%, event December 31, 2025) to 750 shares, 0.00146% (event March 31, 2026) — below the reporting threshold in all but name. The largest stake the register ever recorded belongs to FMR LLC, which rose from 5.5% (event December 31, 2024) through 7.1% to 10.0% (event June 30, 2025) and then fell to 3.7% (event September 30, 2025), with no 2026 FMR filing in the parsed set. Sonnipe Ltd eased from 6.2% to 4.2% over the same span, and Capital World Investors opened at 6.5% (event December 31, 2025).
Short interest. The bear trade washed out in July and then rebuilt for three straight settlements. FINRA short interest peaked at 7,819,987 shares at the May 15, 2026 settlement, fell to 4,714,761 by July 31 — a 31.66% drop in one settlement step from July 15 — and then rose through every settlement to 6,075,397 at September 15, 2026, up 4.92% from the prior settlement, with 5.00 days to cover and 11.88% of the 51,160,822 shares outstanding (a December 31, 2025 count, about nine months stale at that settlement, so the ratio inherits that staleness). The year-ago comparison still points the other way: 3,686,293 shares a year earlier means the latest figure is +64.8% year over year. The short book is rebuilding into the October price rise, not collapsing under it — no one-sided squeeze read fits this tape.
Chart: MNDY short interest — 127 FINRA settlements, June 2021 to September 2026.
Fundamentals context. FY2025 revenue was $1,232.0M with net income of $118.7M and $2,106.6M in assets. monday.com is an Israeli foreign private issuer, and its fundamentals record carries that flag; the 13F implied prices match closes exactly, so no ADS distortion is visible in the 13F lens. The Q2 price move (+4.7%) was far smaller than the tracked cohort's share add (+106.9%) — the cohort bought shares, not just a rising price.
The Gap
The search-interest story and the filing tape disagree about what kind of attention monday.com is getting. Zacks' most-searched note pairs a +24.3% month with a Strong Buy rank, rising estimates, and four straight earnings beats — attention with a buy-side tilt. The filings show something narrower: the concentrated smart-money register did not broaden. It doubled down through a single manager. Disciplined Growth Investors added 859,447 shares in a quarter when the stock rose only 4.7%, while Conifer stood still, no tracked manager entered or exited, and the full institutional market cut its share count 12.03% with 23 fewer filers.
The insider tape is quiet in both directions. Two sellers, $723,439.80 in the parsed corpus, zero buys — but a six-filing corpus from June 2026 onward cannot carry the weight of a "never bought" claim, and this article does not make one. The congressional tape is empty, the control register churned (Goldman in at 6.6%, WCM effectively out), and the short book rebuilt into September while the price rose into October. One plausible reading is that the October rebound was led by estimate and search momentum while the filing record shows a thin, concentrated institutional base and a rebuilding short book — a tape that argues for watching the next filing cycle rather than for assuming the register has already confirmed the move. The 45-day 13F lag cuts both ways: the June picture is the latest complete one, and with no September early filer holding monday.com, the Q3 register is still unwritten.
What Would Change the Picture
Nothing above is a recommendation. It is a record. What would change it:
- 1. An insider open-market purchase. Any Form 4 buy code "P" — especially an officer buy — would end the zero-buy run in the parsed corpus and show up on MNDY's insider page within days of filing.
- 2. Q3 13F season (filings due by November 16, 2026). Watch whether Disciplined Growth Investors adds to its tripled stake or trims it, whether Conifer moves from its flat 400,000 shares, and whether any tracked manager opens a new monday.com position.
- 3. A new 13D or 13G. Any activist 13D, a fresh 13G above 5%, or a new FMR filing after its fall to 3.7% would reset the control-register picture.
- 4. Short-interest direction. Two consecutive settlements of continued rebuilding above the September level — or a fall back toward the July 31 low of 4,714,761 — would each tell a different story about the bear trade.
- 5. The next earnings report. The filings above describe positioning into the current quarter, not a prediction of it; Zacks' current-quarter consensus estimate is $1.43 per share.
This article describes filings and market data for education. It is not investment advice. Data: SEC EDGAR 13F (as of June 30, 2026, filed within 45 days), Form 4 parsed filings span June 3, 2026 – September 15, 2026 (aggregated as of October 2, 2026), House/Senate disclosures through October 3, 2026, FINRA short interest at September 15, 2026 settlement. 13F covers long positions of $100M+ managers only and is always a lagging picture. Trading costs and taxes are not reflected.
